Lustre, the Swedish apotheosis of ambient black metal, returns with a new digital EP: “Reverence”. Available for streaming as of April 14, 2023.
Compared to “A Thirst for Summer Rain” (2022), the single is imbued with a far darker and more twisted feeling. Twenty minutes of pulsating, vibrant melancholia of the kind that Lustre has become known for. “Reverence” features a guest appearance by none other than J.J. from Harakiri for the Sky, whose vocals bring additional layers with enhanced dynamics to Lustre’s sound.
Nachtzeit commented:
This song was initially called “Dimmans dans” (‘The dance of the fog’). I can’t recall exactly when, but it was written well over a decade ago and has since been sitting in my archives. I rediscovered the song in recent years and realised it had great potential. As I was developing and expanding upon the original version, I came across a poem by Robert Frost and thought it would be a perfect fit for the theme of this track. That’s also when I had the idea to ask J.J. if he’d like to contribute some guest vocals.
Fantastic Atmospheric black metal. I cant stretch how much I love this album.
This is genuine, powerful; emotional. It is an absolutely masterfuly crafted project from a very prolific figure of the scene.

It is different than previous releases, nonetheless it is astonishing and beautiful homage to nature. One reproach, like both previous albums this one too flown by so quickly. Do yourself a favor and listen to this music in forest you like to visit. Hedensk Hjerte
Music that has nothing to prove which has not already proved and nothing to expect when there is nothing to be expected and that is so liberating :) nakilep
